| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply | 3 | | saddened to learn of the death of George Murray Jr. of Peoria | 4 | | Heights, who passed away on July 25, 2012; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, George Murray Jr. was born on August 21, 1937, in | 6 | | Joliet, to George Sr. and Dorothy "Billie" (Grief) Murray; he | 7 | | married Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Henseler on August 23, 1958; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, George Murray Jr. graduated from Spalding | 9 | | Institute in 1955, and earned a master's degree in business | 10 | | administration from Bradley University; he served his country | 11 | | in the U.S. Army; he was stationed at McCord Air Force Base in | 12 | | Tacoma, Washington, and was an analyst with the ARADCOM Missile | 13 | | Program; he worked for his father at George Murray Tire Co. and | 14 | | later was president of Mechanical Rubber & Supply, Peoria | 15 | | Suppliers Inc., and Murray's Jewelers and Distributors; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, George Murray Jr. enjoyed helping others to start | 17 | | their own business and supported the fine arts in the Peoria | 18 | | area; he sat on many boards, including Junior Achievement, The | 19 | | Jefferson Bank, and the Tri-County Regional Planning | 20 | | Commission; he was chairman of the CICCA Golf Association; he | 21 | | was a member of St. Thomas Parish; and

| 4 | | WHEREAS, George Murray Jr. is survived by his wife, Mary | 5 | | Elizabeth; his children, Brian (Joanne) Murray and Michelle | 6 | | (Kai) Larson; his brothers, John T. (Marjorie) Murray and | 7 | | Patrick J. (Mary) Murray; his sister, Sharon (Jim) Lysaught; | 8 | | his grandchildren: Robert, Brianne, and Alex Murray, and Lyman, | 9 | | Lauren, and Kamaryn Larson; and several nieces and nephews; | 10 | | therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | George Murray Jr., and we extend our sincere condolences to his | 14 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 15 | | further
