SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
60 ILCS 1/80-10

    Amends the Township Code. Exempts expenses determined by the township board by resolution from being examined and audited by the township board at the township clerk's office. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing Section
580-10 as follows:
 
6    (60 ILCS 1/80-10)
7    Sec. 80-10. Board meetings; township and road district
8accounts.
9    (a) The township board shall meet at the township clerk's
10office for the purpose of examining and auditing the township
11and road district accounts before any bills (other than general
12assistance, obligations for Social Security taxes as required
13by the Social Security Enabling Act, and wages that are subject
14to the Illinois Wage Payment and Collection Act, or other
15expenses determined by the township board by resolution) are
16paid. The board may meet at other times as they determine. The
17township board may consider and approve bills individually or
18in a summary statement of any number of bills.
19    (b) Upon the request of the supervisor or of any 2 board
20members, the township clerk shall call a meeting at the time
21requested and shall furnish to the board members at least 48
22hours' notice of the meeting.
23    (c) The township board may declare a vacancy in the office

1of township supervisor or trustee if the supervisor or a
2trustee has 5 or more consecutive unexcused absences from
3regularly scheduled township board meetings.
4    (d) The township board may adopt rules not inconsistent
5with this Code to govern its meetings. The rules may provide
6for excused absences of the supervisor or trustees from
7township board meetings.
8    (e) All meetings of the township board shall be open to the
9public as provided in the Open Meetings Act.

12    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
13becoming law.
