| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are proud to honor those who make worthwhile | 4 | | contributions to their communities; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Joyce Horiuchi was appointed to the Hoffman | 6 | | Estates Cultural Awareness Commission on March 22, 1993, and | 7 | | continues to serve as an active member of the Commission today; | 8 | | and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Joyce Horiuchi graduated with Class 6 of the | 10 | | Citizens Police Academy in the spring of 2002; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Joyce Horiuchi has been an outstanding volunteer | 12 | | with the Hoffman Estates Citizens Police Academy Alumni | 13 | | Association for many years; she has volunteered for multiple | 14 | | events, including the association's fishing derby, | 15 | | adjudication hearings, Shop with a Cop, and various ILEETA | 16 | | events; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Joyce Horiuchi's length of service and her | 18 | | positive attitude toward all of the commission's activities, | 19 | | such as the MLK Jr. Breakfast Celebration, Unity Day, Hispanic | 20 | | Heritage Day Fiesta, and others, are a testament to her great | 21 | | dedication to this worthy cause; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Joyce Horiuchi's service to the Cultural | 2 | | Awareness Commission and the Village of Hoffman Estates' | 3 | | citizens is best described in a quote from Martin Luther King, | 4 | | Jr.: "All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and | 5 | | importance and should be undertaken with painstaking | 6 | | excellence"; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Joyce Horiuchi and her loving husband, Morimasa, | 8 | | have 2 children; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Joyce Horiuchi's many years of dedicated service | 10 | | on the Cultural Awareness Commission and in other volunteer | 11 | | capacities makes her worthy of the greatest respect; therefore, | 12 | | be it
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 14 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 15 | | we honor Joyce Horiuchi for her many contributions to her | 16 | | community and wish her continued success in the future; and be | 17 | | it further
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 19 | | presented to Joyce Horiuchi as a symbol of our respect and | 20 | | esteem.
