| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Mary (nee | 4 | | Kruse) Shuemaker, who passed away in July 18, 2013; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mary Shuemaker was born on August 19, 1940, in | 6 | | Dyersville; her parents were Leander and Margaret Milbert | 7 | | Kruse; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Mary Shuemaker and her family moved to Chicago in | 9 | | 1943; she earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from | 10 | | DePaul University in Chicago; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Mary Shuemaker was a lifelong educator who taught | 12 | | at Chicago Vocational School in Chicago and Glenbard West High | 13 | | School in Glen Ellyn; after the birth of her sons, she left her | 14 | | teaching career for many years to devote herself to parenting | 15 | | duties; she also taught at the College of DuPage and Waubonsee | 16 | | Community College in Aurora; after her teaching career, she | 17 | | served as a part-time secretary for the Wheaton police and fire | 18 | | departments; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, In her retirement years, Mary Shuemaker served as | 20 | | volunteer in her local People's Resource Center, where she | 21 | | tutored Hispanic immigrants in English as a Second Language |

| 1 | | studies, among other activities; she was also a long-time | 2 | | member and officer of the League of Women Voters; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Mary Shuemaker will be fondly remembered by all | 4 | | who knew and loved her for her infectious smile, sunny | 5 | | disposition, and positive attitude; and | 6 | | WHEREAS, Mary Shuemaker is survived by her husband, Harry; | 7 | | her sons, Matthew and David; and her brothers, Giles and Larry; | 8 | | therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 10 | | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 11 | | we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of | 12 | | Mary Shuemaker; and be it further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of Mary Shuemaker as an expression of | 15 | | our sympathy.
