HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Paul Vernon "Skipper" Bishop, CLU, ChFC, of Olney, who passed away on March 15, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Paul Bishop was born in Harco on September 6, 1946 to Vollie and Mary Ann (nee Griffiths) Bishop; he attended Equality schools throughout his childhood and graduated from Equality High School in 1964; he married Susie Crayne in 1965 and graduated with a bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale in 1968; and

WHEREAS, Paul Bishop was a dedicated employee of Country Companies (Country Financial) for 39 years, working as an agent, manager, district director, vice-president, and as senior vice-president; along the way he received a number of awards and supervised and mentored agents and managers throughout the United States; he retired in 2011; and

WHEREAS, Paul Bishop was an avid fan of the Illini, Chicago Cubs, and Chicago Bears; he enjoyed fishing, hunting at Cave-in-Rock, golfing, playing cards, family trips, mushroom hunting, and fish frying for family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Paul Bishop was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Bishop Bennett; his father, Vollie Bishop; his step-father, John Bennett; his brother, Vollie Bishop, Jr.; and his nephew, Chris Bishop; and

WHEREAS, Paul Bishop was brother to Vollie Bishop, Jr., Larry Bishop, and Johnita (nee Bennett) (Jim) Moore; father to Christy (Greg Niktas), Courtney, and Paul II (Brandy Bishop); and grandpa to Emma, John, Lucy, William, Bailee, and one on the way; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Paul Vernon "Skipper" Bishop, CLU, ChFC, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Paul Bishop as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
