HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Fairmount Park is a horse racetrack located in the
3City of Collinsville in Madison County; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Fairmount Park has entertained horse racing
5enthusiasts since the opening of the race track in 1925; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Fairmount Park serves as an economic engine for
7the City of Collinsville and the Metro East; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Fairmount Park directly employs 400 individuals
9and indirectly employs 600 individuals; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Fairmount Park conducted over 230 horse races in
11the 1990s, 65 races in 2013, and is scheduled to conduct 52
12races in 2014; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Senate Bill 1739, as amended, allows for the
14creation of a casino in the City of Chicago; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Senate Bill 1739, as amended, allows for the
16creation of 4 new riverboat casinos located in each of the
17following counties: Cook, Lake, Vermilion, and Winnebago; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Senate Bill 1739, as amended, will allow

1electronic gaming at each and every horse racetrack throughout
2Illinois, with the exception of Fairmount Park; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Proposed amendments to Senate Bill 1739 are
4erroneous and unfair to Fairmount Park, the City of
5Collinsville, local businesses, restaurants, hotels, the horse
6racing industry, and employees at Fairmount Park; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Fairmount Park should not be excluded in any
8legislation which allows for electronic gaming at racetracks in
9Illinois; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we urge the members of the General Assembly to include
13Fairmount Park in any gaming bill which allows electronic
14gaming at all racetracks in Illinois; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
16delivered to the Illinois Gaming Board, Illinois Governor Pat
17Quinn, and Fairmount Park.
