| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of George Joseph Paynic, who passed away on | 4 | | January 16, 2013; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, George Paynic was born on September 14, 1929, in | 6 | | Granite City; his parents were Anthony and Frances (Kezele) | 7 | | Paynic Sr.; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, George Paynic spent his entire life in the Wood | 9 | | River-East Alton area and began working as a young man in his | 10 | | father's shoe shop; after serving his country as a member of | 11 | | the United States Army during the Korean War, he returned to | 12 | | the area and began his work in funeral service, serving | 13 | | families for more than 50 years; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, George Paynic was the founder of the George J. | 15 | | Paynic Home for Funerals, which he established in Rosewood | 16 | | Heights in 1989 and operated until 2011; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, George Paynic was a past Governor and longtime | 18 | | member of the Wood River Moose #1349, earning the Pilgrim's | 19 | | degree; he was also a past Wood River City Councilman, a | 20 | | 50-plus year Madison County Reserve Deputy Coroner, and a | 21 | | member of the Croatian Fraternal Union of America, Benld |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, George Paynic was preceded in death by his | 3 | | parents; his brothers, Edward, Fr. Richard, Anthony, and | 4 | | Stephen Paynic, and his sisters, Helen Eich, Julia Paynic, and | 5 | | Rose Marie Bowler; and | 6 | | WHEREAS, George Paynic is survived by his son and | 7 | | daughter-in-law, Joseph W. and Jennifer Paynic; his daughters | 8 | | and their spouses, Georgiann Ursch, Toni Blevins-Lucas, | 9 | | LaDonna Evans, Angela Paynic, Andrea Schenk, Trish Ursch, and | 10 | | Michaela Green; his many grandchildren and | 11 | | great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law, Eldon Bowler; his | 12 | | sister-in-law, S. Jean Paynic; and his many nieces and nephews; | 13 | | therefore, be it
