SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Michael D. Sikora of Edwardsville,
4formerly of Granite City, who passed away on January 3, 2013;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Michael Sikora served as an educator in the
7Granite City School District for 32 years; he began his career
8as a science teacher, then worked as a guidance counselor and
9assistant principal for many years before accepting the
10position of principal of Coolidge Middle School; he retired in
111993 from the Granite City School District Administration as
12the Director of Secondary Education; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Michael Sikora enjoyed hunting, golfing, and
14spending time with his grandchildren; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Michael Sikora was preceded in death by his
16parents, Mike and Vera Sikora; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Michael Sikora is survived by his beloved wife of
1852 years, Joyce M. Sikora, whom he married on November 19,
191960, at the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Granite
20City; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kim Sikora; his
21daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Dan Greenemay and Kathy

1and Phil Grippi; his grandchildren, Danny and Zachary
2Greenemay, Bella and Philip Grippi, and Morgan, Kate, and Nick
3Sikora; his brother and sister-in-law, John and Sharon Sikora;
4his sister, Jean Cook; his mother-in-law, Margaret Graham; his
5sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, JoAnne and Tom Taff; and his
6many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
10his family and friends, the passing of Michael D. Sikora; and
11be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Michael Sikora as an expression of
14our sympathy.
