| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Mary Hill, who passed away on March 15, | 4 | | 2013; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mary Hill was born on November 8, 1936, in | 6 | | Cherokee County, Oklahoma; her parents were Emmett and Lennie | 7 | | Johnson; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Mary Hill graduated from East Aurora High School | 9 | | in 1954; she subsequently earned her bachelor's degree from | 10 | | Northern Illinois University in 1977 and her master's degree in | 11 | | public affairs from Northern Illinois University in 1979; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Mary Hill retired from Fermilab in 1997, after | 13 | | nearly 20 years of employment; after her retirement, she worked | 14 | | as a GED teacher at Waubonsee Community College; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Mary Hill was active in various organizations in | 16 | | the Aurora community; she was a former member of the Main | 17 | | Baptist Choir under the pastorate of the late Rev. Robert | 18 | | Wesby; she was one of the 11 founding members of Progressive | 19 | | Baptist Church; she was also a member and a trustee emeritus at | 20 | | St. John AME Church; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Mary Hill was preceded in death by her parents; | 2 | | her children, Kim Lee Anderson and Todd Clinton Smith; her | 3 | | sister, Doreatha Warden; and her brother, Joe Johnson; and | 4 | | WHEREAS, Mary Hill is survived by her beloved husband of 39 | 5 | | years, Herbert Hill; her son, Gregory A. Hill; her | 6 | | grandchildren, Nichole K. (Robert) Allen, Rahshawn C. Lyles | 7 | | (I'esha Saxon), Taj C. (Bree) Smith, and LaShonda Holden; her | 8 | | great-grandchildren, Mario, Mekai, and Mya Ann Lyles, Jordan | 9 | | and Ashton Allen, Jacob Smith, and Senai Saxon; her brothers, | 10 | | Robert Lee Johnson and Emmitt Johnson; and her many nieces, | 11 | | nephews, and friends; therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 14 | | her family and friends, the passing of Mary Hill; and be it | 15 | | further
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 | | presented to the family of Mary Hill as an expression of our | 18 | | sympathy.
