| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Dennis Dennehy of Oak Lawn, on January 6, | 4 | | 2013; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dennis Dennehy was an Irish dance teacher for more | 6 | | than half a century; he taught the most famous Irish dancer in | 7 | | the world, "Lord of the Dance", Michael Flatley, as well as | 8 | | Mark Howard, who co-founded Chicago's Trinity, the largest | 9 | | Irish dance program in the world; more than 100 Irish dance | 10 | | teachers in the midwest can trace their roots to Mr. Dennehy | 11 | | and at least 27 schools have been founded by his former | 12 | | students; he and his wife, Margie, co-founded the Dennehy | 13 | | School of Irish Dance in the early 1960s; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Dennis Dennehy grew up on the west side of Chicago | 15 | | and attended St. Philip High School; his parents were from the | 16 | | towns of Bantry Bay and Macroom in County Cork, Ireland; he | 17 | | attended Loyola University, where he met his future wife, | 18 | | Margie Bartishell; he worked as an underwriter for Kemper | 19 | | Insurance; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Dennis Dennehy enjoyed spending time with his | 21 | | Alaskan malamute, Seamus and the family mutt, Shannon; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Dennis Dennehy is survived by his wife, Margie; | 2 | | his son, Dennis Dennehy; his daughter, Kathleen; his sisters, | 3 | | Therese Smetana and Margaret Jandacek; his brother, Emmett, and | 4 | | his grandson, Conor; therefore, be it
| 5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 6 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 7 | | Dennis Dennehy, and we extend our sincere condolences to his | 8 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 9 | | further
| 10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 11 | | presented to the family of Dennis Dennehy as an expression of | 12 | | our deepest sympathy.
