| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Lola Hickey (nee Heller) of Rochester, | 4 | | who passed away on April 21, 2013; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Lola Hickey was born on October 23, 1916, in | 6 | | Elmira, New York, to Milton and Grace Weiss Heller; she was | 7 | | president of the student council during high school and captain | 8 | | of her high school's girls basketball team; she married | 9 | | Herschel Hickey on December 24, 1946, in Springfield; she and | 10 | | Herschel raised their family in Jacksonville; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Lola Hickey was a registered nurse and retired as | 12 | | the director of nursing at the Scott County Nursing Home; after | 13 | | retirement, she was a dedicated volunteer at Koke Mill Medical | 14 | | Center, Memorial Hospital, and Lewis Memorial Christian Home; | 15 | | in 2002, she was honored as YWCA "Woman of Excellence"; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Lola Hickey was an active member of Central | 17 | | Christian Church in Jacksonville and the Westside Christian | 18 | | Church in Springfield; affectionately known as "Grandma YoYo", | 19 | | she enjoyed following her grandchildren play sports, watching | 20 | | the Fighting Illini basketball team and the St. Louis | 21 | | Cardinals, playing games with her family and friends, and was a | 22 | | fierce card, domino, and Scrabble competitor; she also enjoyed |

| 1 | | camping and traveling and was a founding member with her | 2 | | husband of the Jacksonville Family Camper's Club; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Lola Hickey was preceded in death by her husband, | 4 | | and her sisters, Ethel Stoner and Mildred Hartz; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Lola Hickey is survived by her daughters, Martha | 6 | | Hickey (companion Orville), Norma Seibert, and Jan Hickey; her | 7 | | grandchildren, Robin (John) Schmidt, Janet Seibert, Ryan | 8 | | (Mendy) DuRocher, Julie (Mike) Keebler, and Scott (Toni) | 9 | | Seibert; and 15 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 | | Lola Hickey, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, | 13 | | friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
