| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Barbara Anderson Hudson of Downers Grove, | 4 | | who passed away on July 14, 2013; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Hudson was born in 1919 in Chicago to | 6 | | Helen Barlow and Walter Sigfreid Anderson; she was raised in | 7 | | the Hyde Park neighborhood and attended Hyde Park High School; | 8 | | she studied education and drama at Denison University in | 9 | | Granville, Ohio, where she was an enthusiastic actress, | 10 | | appearing in "Hamlet", among other roles; she receive her | 11 | | Bachelor's Degree in 1941 and married her college sweetheart, | 12 | | George Raymond "Ray" Hudson; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Hudson accompanied her husband to | 14 | | military bases in San Antonio and Amarillo, Texas, before | 15 | | settling in Hinsdale in 1950; during the 1950s and 1960s, she | 16 | | was active in Infant Welfare, the Daughters of the American | 17 | | Revolution, P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization), | 18 | | and many other local groups; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Hudson was an active political wife; she | 20 | | helped her husband found the Taproot political organization and | 21 | | was a leading member of the Republican Women's Club and the | 22 | | DuPage County Republicans; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Hudson enjoyed reading, needle-work, | 2 | | cooking, and traveling, including numerous cruises and trips to | 3 | | foreign countries; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Hudson was preceded in death by her | 5 | | parents and by her husband; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Hudson is survived by her children, Susan | 7 | | Hudson Fox, Richard Frederick Hudson, and Robert Raymond | 8 | | Hudson; her 9 grandchildren; and her 16 great-grandchildren; | 9 | | therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 | | Barbara Anderson Hudson, and extend our sincere condolences to | 13 | | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 14 | | further
| 15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 16 | | presented to the family of Barbara Hudson as an expression of | 17 | | our deepest sympathy.
