| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Gerald J. "Chic" Anderson of Palatine, | 4 | | who passed away on December 4, 2013; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Gerald Anderson was born on December 10, 1928 in | 6 | | Cambridge; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Gerald Anderson was the former Athletic Director | 8 | | of Palatine High School; under his leadership, Palatine High | 9 | | School athletic programs gained recognition in the Northwest | 10 | | suburbs and the State of Illinois for their integrity, | 11 | | competitiveness, and school spirit; upon his retirement in | 12 | | 1988, Palatine High School paid him the ultimate compliment by | 13 | | naming the football stadium Chic Anderson Stadium; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Gerald Anderson was the recipient of numerous | 15 | | awards during his career, including the Illinois Athletic | 16 | | Director's Association Outstanding Athletic Director of the | 17 | | Year award in 1979, the National High School Coaches | 18 | | Association Athletic Director of the Year award in 1982, the | 19 | | Palatine Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Community Service | 20 | | Award in 1982, and the Northwest Community Hospital Sportsman | 21 | | of the Year Award in 1991; he was also inducted into the | 22 | | Illinois Athletic Directors Association Hall of Fame in 1998 |

| 1 | | and Palatine High School Hall of Fame in 1999; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Gerald Anderson was a member of St. Thomas | 3 | | Catholic Church; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Gerald Anderson was preceded in death by his | 5 | | parents, Elizabeth and Julius Anderson, and his brother, | 6 | | Berendt; and | 7 | | WHEREAS, Gerald Anderson is survived by his wife of 58 | 8 | | years, Mary Lou Anderson; his children, Mark Anderson, Tammy | 9 | | Fitzgerald, Cindy (Terry) Ellis, Gordy (Suzanne) Anderson, Joe | 10 | | (Pam) Anderson, John (Meghan) Anderson, and Stan (Mary) | 11 | | Anderson; his 13 grandchildren; his siblings, Phyllis, | 12 | | Eleanor, Marian (Louie), and Jack (Dorothy); his | 13 | | sister-in-law, Lorraine Anderson; and his brother-in-law, Dean | 14 | | (Jean) Hill; therefore, be it
| 15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | 17 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Gerald J. "Chic" | 18 | | Anderson; and be it further
| 19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 20 | | presented to the family of Gerald Anderson as an expression of | 21 | | our sympathy.
