| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Melvin E. Stanford of Mackinaw, who | 4 | | passed away on April 8, 2014; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Melvin Stanford was born on September 10, 1943 in | 6 | | Salem; his parents were Melvin W. and Wilhelmina E. Hormann | 7 | | Stanford; he married Lillian F. Vance on December 17, 1977 in | 8 | | Groveland; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Melvin Stanford earned his bachelor's degree from | 10 | | Illinois State University and his master's degree from Bradley | 11 | | University; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, After college, Melvin Stanford taught and coached | 13 | | at Washington Grade School for 3 years and later taught and | 14 | | coached at Deer Creek Mackinaw Grade School for over 15 years; | 15 | | he subsequently left teaching and went to work for the Illinois | 16 | | Department of Transportation as a human resources director from | 17 | | 1985 to 2002; during his time with the Illinois Department of | 18 | | Transportation, he served as a member of the Tazewell County | 19 | | Board for 12 years; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Melvin Stanford was preceded in death by his | 21 | | parents; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Melvin Stanford is survived by his wife, Lillian; | 2 | | one daughter, Rachael, and her fiance, Kyle Stratton; one son, | 3 | | Robert (Jessica) Stanford; one sister, Bert Becker; 4 brothers, | 4 | | Robert (Max) Stanford, Dale Stanford, Gale Stanford, and Gary | 5 | | (Carol) Stanford; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | 8 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Melvin E. Stanford; | 9 | | and be it further
| 10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 11 | | presented to the family of Melvin Stanford as an expression of | 12 | | our sympathy.
