| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Bruce William Viernow of Glen Ellyn, who | 4 | | passed away on February 25, 2014; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bruce Viernow was born in Chicago on April 23, | 6 | | 1939 to William and Martha (nee Helmken); he graduated from | 7 | | Foreman High School in 1957; after working for a short while | 8 | | reading gas meters, he attended Carthage College, graduating in | 9 | | 1962 with a degree in business; he later received his master's | 10 | | degree in business from Northern Illinois University; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Bruce Viernow began his career in 1962 working at | 12 | | Field Elementary School in Elmhurst; later he taught history | 13 | | and coached basketball at Yorkfield Elementary and Bryan Middle | 14 | | Schools in Elmhurst; he worked as a teacher and administrator | 15 | | at Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn for 27 years from | 16 | | 1967 to 1994; he was principal of Mooseheart Middle and High | 17 | | Schools near Aurora from 1994 to 1997; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Bruce Viernow was commissioner of the Elmhurst | 19 | | Park District softball program from 1963 to 1976, transforming | 20 | | a struggling league of 10 teams into one with 3 divisions and | 21 | | more than 30 teams; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Bruce Viernow was preceded in death by his | 2 | | parents, and by his first wife, Kathleen (nee Bock); and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Bruce Viernow is survived by his wife, Julie (nee | 4 | | Brusca) Dagnon, whom he married in 1992; children Tyler, Lisa | 5 | | (Bruce) Acord, Julie (Charles) Siebel, John (Amy) Dagnon, and | 6 | | Michael (Laura) Dagnon; grandchildren, Brad Acord, Kathleen | 7 | | Acord, Trey Siebel, Cassidy Siebel, and Drew Dagnon; sister, | 8 | | Sandra (the late Ronald) Piper; and several nieces and nephews; | 9 | | therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 | | Bruce William Viernow, and extend our sincere condolences to | 13 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 14 | | further
