| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Louis D. Gilbert of Macomb, who passed | 4 | | away on May 22, 2014; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Louis Gilbert was born on June 4, 1938; his | 6 | | parents were Leon and Flora Frakes Gilbert; he married Melvina | 7 | | Weaver on April 18, 1965; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Louis Gilbert served in the United States Navy | 9 | | from 1959 to 1965, having served on the USS Essex during the | 10 | | Cuban Missile Crisis; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Louis Gilbert was a self-employed painter since | 12 | | 1974; he also served as a Macomb City Alderman for 12 years, | 13 | | having served on the City Council's public transportation and | 14 | | public works committees and as the City's representative on | 15 | | joint projects undertaken with McDonough County; and | 16 | | WHEREAS, Louis Gilbert was a member of the Macomb American | 17 | | Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Macomb Masonic Lodge; | 18 | | and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Louis Gilbert was preceded in death by his | 20 | | parents; 5 brothers; and a sister; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Louis Gilbert is survived by his wife, Melvina; 2 | 2 | | sons, Lance Gilbert and Lonnie (Wendy) Gilbert; a daughter, | 3 | | Angela (Mitch) Lynn; 4 grandchildren, Nick and Drake Gilbert | 4 | | and Madison and Camryn Lynn; 3 great-grandchildren, Jace, | 5 | | Adalynn, and Talan Gilbert; a brother, Joe Gilbert; and a | 6 | | sister, Marilyn Saliares; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | 9 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Louis D. Gilbert; and | 10 | | be it further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to the family of Louis Gilbert as an expression of | 13 | | our sympathy.
