| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of John Joseph Phipps of Waukegan, who | 4 | | passed away on May 9, 2014; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Phipps was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana in | 6 | | 1932 to Albertus and Velma Phipps; he earned his Bachelor of | 7 | | Science in Industrial Engineering from the Case Institute of | 8 | | Technology in 1955 and married Mary Lou that same year; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, John Phipps was a licensed professional engineer, | 10 | | spending most of his career at the Boeing Company and Abbott | 11 | | Laboratories; he retired from Abbott in 1993; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, John Phipps was an Elder and Trustee at First | 13 | | Presbyterian Church in Waukegan; he enjoyed playing bridge and | 14 | | golf and working on rehabbing his 135-year old house; each | 15 | | winter he and his wife traveled to Gulf Shores, Alabama; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, John Phipps was preceded in death by his father, | 17 | | Albertus Phipps; mother, Velma Phipps (nee Watson); and his | 18 | | sisters, Phyllis Hoffman and Alice Sultz; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, John Phipps is survived by his wife of 58 years, | 20 | | Mary Lou Phipps (nee Hall); his daughters, Patricia Woertz |

| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | John Joseph Phipps, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 11 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 12 | | further
