| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of William T. Cox of Geneva, who passed away | 4 | | on May 17, 2014; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, William Cox was born on January 6, 1922 in Rock | 6 | | Island; his parents were Tracy W. and Hazel (nee Scott) Cox; he | 7 | | married Ethel Williams on January 24, 1942 in Davenport, Iowa; | 8 | | and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, In 1937, William Cox joined the United States | 10 | | Marine Corps, serving until 1939 when he was honorably | 11 | | discharged; he also served in the United States Navy SeaBees | 12 | | from 1943 through 1945 at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii; and | 13 | | WHEREAS, William Cox and his family moved to Geneva in 1956 | 14 | | when he accepted a job with Burgess-Norton; during his long | 15 | | career with Burgess-Norton, he worked as a metallurgist and | 16 | | developed the hardening agent DH-5; he worked at Burgess-Norton | 17 | | from 1955 until his retirement in 1989; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, William Cox was a life member of Masonic Trinity | 19 | | Lodge #208 in Davenport, the American Legion Post #75 in | 20 | | Geneva, and the American Society of Metals; he also contributed | 21 | | many hours to the Kane County Sheriff's Patrol; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, William Cox was preceded in death by his wife, | 2 | | Ethel; his parents; and a sister; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, William Cox is survived by his children, David | 4 | | (Lois) Cox and Billie Cox; 5 grandchildren, Matthew (Jennifer) | 5 | | Cox, Patrick (Amber) Cox, Terra Cox, Renee Lightburn, and | 6 | | Tracey Lightburn; 3 great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Evan, and | 7 | | Joslynn; a brother, Carl (Donna); and a brother-in-law, Sam | 8 | | (Karen) Williams; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | 11 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of William T. Cox; and be | 12 | | it further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of William Cox as an expression of our | 15 | | sympathy.
