| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Bernard "Bernie" Thieben of Chillicothe, | 4 | | who passed away on October 13, 2014; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bernard Thieben was born on November 11, 1932 to | 6 | | H. Bernard and Margaretta (nee Mosher) Thieben; he married | 7 | | Beverly J. Buskirk on April 13, 1963 in Mossville; he served in | 8 | | the United States Army during the Korean War; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Bernard Thieben retired from Caterpillar after 37 | 10 | | years; he was elected Supervisor of Medina Township and served | 11 | | the township community for 36 years; he owned an auto body shop | 12 | | for 12 years; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Bernard Thieben was past president of the Peoria | 14 | | County Township Officials Association; he was chairman of the | 15 | | Township Officials of Illinois Risk Management Association | 16 | | Board for 12 years and served on the Peoria County Republican | 17 | | Central Committee; and | 18 | | WHEREAS, Bernard Thieben enjoyed writing poetry; he was an | 19 | | active member of Illinois Masonic Lodge 263 Ancient Free & | 20 | | Accepted Masons of Peoria, the Valley of Peoria Scottish Rite, | 21 | | and the Mohammed Shriners of Bartonville, and was a Past Patron |

| 1 | | of the Don Meyer Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star of | 2 | | Peoria; he was also active in the Independent Order of Odd | 3 | | Fellows and the Chillicothe Lions Club; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Bernard Thieben was preceded in death by his | 5 | | parents; son, Ricky L. Thieben; and a sister, Adda Alexander; | 6 | | and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Bernard Thieben is survived by his children, | 8 | | Denise Thieben, LeeAnn (Guy) Krulac, Paulette (Jim) Korte, | 9 | | James (Betsey) West, Scott L. West, and Bernard H. Thieben | 10 | | (Elizabeth McKeever); 18 grandchildren; 11 | 11 | | great-grandchildren; a sister, Margie Turnow; a brother, Bob | 12 | | (Cindy) Thieben; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | 14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 15 | | Bernard "Bernie" Thieben, and extend our sincere condolences to | 16 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 17 | | further
