Creates the Electronic Driver's License Pilot Program Act. Provides that the Secretary of State shall develop a program to test the use of electronic driver's licenses and designate a group of volunteer employees within its office to conduct a test of the app. At the end of the pilot program period, the Secretary shall report all the findings to the General Assembly.

1 | | AN ACT concerning transportation.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the |
5 | | Electronic Driver's License Pilot Program Act. |
6 | | Section 5. Purpose. The purpose of this Act is to create a |
7 | | pilot program that would test the use of electronic driver's |
8 | | licenses in this State and to report the findings to the |
9 | | General Assembly.

10 | | Section 10. Pilot Program. |
11 | | (a) Six months after the effective date of this Act, the |
12 | | Secretary of State shall develop a program to test the use of |
13 | | electronic driver's licenses in this State for purposes similar |
14 | | to the use of physical driver's licenses. |
15 | | (b) Six months after the effective date of this Act, the |
16 | | Secretary shall designate a limited group of volunteer |
17 | | employees within its office, who frequently use state or |
18 | | private vehicles, to be part of a group that shall test an |
19 | | electronic driver's license program for a period of at least 90 |
20 | | days. |
21 | | (c) The pilot program group may use all features of the |
22 | | electronic driver's license app, except for the purpose of |
