AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 6167

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 6167 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Election Code is amended by changing
5Sections 3-1.2 and 3-6 and by adding Sections 4-8.5, 5-8.5, and
66-35.5 as follows:
 
7    (10 ILCS 5/3-6)
8    Sec. 3-6. Voting age. Notwithstanding any other provision
9of law, a person who is 17 years old on the date of a caucus,
10general primary election, or consolidated primary election and
11who is otherwise qualified to vote is qualified to vote at that
12caucus, general primary, or consolidated primary, including
13voting a vote by mail, grace period, or early voting ballot
14with respect to that general primary or consolidated primary,
15if that person will be 18 years old on the date of the
16immediately following general election or consolidated

1election for which candidates are nominated at that primary.
2    References in this Code and elsewhere to the requirement
3that a person must be 18 years old to vote shall be interpreted
4in accordance with this Section.
5    For the purposes of this Act, an individual who is 17 years
6of age and who will be 18 years of age on the date of the
7general or consolidated election shall be deemed competent to
8execute and attest to any voter registration forms. An
9individual who is 17 years of age, will be 18 years of age on
10the date of the immediately following general or consolidated
11election, and is otherwise qualified to vote shall be deemed
12eligible to circulate a nominating petition or a petition
13proposing a public question

16    Sec. 4-8.5. Deputy registrar eligibility. Unless otherwise
17provided by law, an individual that is 17 years old or older
18who is registered to vote in this State shall be eligible to
19serve as a deputy registrar.
 
20    (10 ILCS 5/5-8.5 new)
21    Sec. 5-8.5. Deputy registrar eligibility. Unless otherwise
22provided by law, an individual that is 17 years old or older
23who is registered to vote in this State shall be eligible to
24serve as a deputy registrar.

1    (10 ILCS 5/6-35.5 new)
2    Sec. 6-35.5. Deputy registrar eligibility. Unless
3otherwise provided by law, an individual that is 17 years old
4or older who is registered to vote in this State shall be
5eligible to serve as a deputy registrar.".
 
6    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
7becoming law.".
