HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Sarah Alice Grass was born in Elizabeth, Indiana on June 18, 1916 to the late Alva Otto Grass and the late Vada Etna Grass; and

WHEREAS, Sarah Poe was one of 3 siblings, along with her sister, the late Margaret Grass, and her brother, the late Chester Grass; and

WHEREAS, Sarah Poe married Donald L. Poe on December 9, 1936 in the Christian Church in Williamsville; and

WHEREAS, Sarah Poe and Donald raised 4 kids, Marie Patterson, Joyce Barregarye, Donald R. Poe, and Kay Sapp; and

WHEREAS, In order to provide for their family, Sarah Poe and Donald farmed for nearly 35 years; in addition, she served as a Fancy Creek Township tax collector for decades; and

WHEREAS, Sarah Poe has been blessed with 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, To her core, Sarah Poe is a woman of service to others; she raised her beautiful family with the understanding that we all have a responsibility to uplift one another; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we wish Sarah Alice Poe an amazing 99th birthday and we wish her many more wonderful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Sarah Poe as an expression of our esteem and respect.
