| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Tom McIntyre on the | 4 | | occasion of his retirement from WEEK-TV Channel 25 in Peoria on | 5 | | May 21, 2015; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Tom McIntyre was born in Bloomington and grew up | 7 | | in Chenoa; he later returned to the Bloomington-Normal area to | 8 | | attend Illinois State Normal University (now Illinois State | 9 | | University), where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in | 10 | | Education with majors in Speech and Psychology in 1966; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, After working for several radio stations, | 12 | | including WIRL-TV/WIRL-AM 1290, and a stint in the United | 13 | | States Navy at Fort Meade, Tom McIntyre began working at | 14 | | WEEK-TV in 1973, beginning his career as a reporter; soon | 15 | | after, he became the anchor of News 25 at Six and News 25 | 16 | | Nightside, where he served for 42 years until his retirement; | 17 | | and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Tom McIntyre has received numerous awards in | 19 | | journalism from the Associated Press and United Press | 20 | | International; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Tom McIntyre is involved with numerous community |

| 1 | | organizations, including the Peoria Historical Society, Bring | 2 | | Home the Duryea, the Awards Committees for the YWCA Leadership | 3 | | Luncheon, and the Peoria Jaycees; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Tom McIntyre enjoys riding his motorcycle, | 5 | | traveling, working on his home, and reading; therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 7 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 8 | | congratulate Tom McIntyre on the occasion of his retirement and | 9 | | wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be | 10 | | it further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to Tom McIntyre as a symbol of our esteem and | 13 | | respect.
