| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Rosie Lee | 4 | | Lewis, who passed away on June 14, 2015; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Rosie Lewis was born in Georgiana, Alabama on | 6 | | December 15, 1924 to Melvin and Velma (nee Gipson) Mims, Sr.; | 7 | | she married Floyd C. Lewis in 1947 and they settled in | 8 | | Galesburg; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Rosie Lewis worked as a cook for Augie's Airport | 10 | | Inn for over 20 years and then at the Knox Manor Nursing Home; | 11 | | and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Rosie Lewis was a member of Second Baptist Church, | 13 | | where she served on the Deaconess and Mother's Board; later, | 14 | | she joined Greater Heights Worship Center, where she was a | 15 | | charter member and a mother of the church; and | 16 | | WHEREAS, Rosie Lewis enjoyed making quilts, cooking for | 17 | | family and friends, and attending church; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Rosie Lewis was preceded in death by her husband, | 19 | | Floyd; her parents; and her 2 brothers, Clyde Mimms and Melvin | 20 | | Mims, Jr.; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Rosie Lewis is survived by her 5 daughters, | 2 | | Frances Hawthorne, Rosie Tubbs, Viola (Andrew) Jowers, Sally | 3 | | (Leonard) Newson, and Rachael Parker; her son, Floyd (Barbara) | 4 | | Lewis; her 4 sisters, Dorothy (Earl) Wilson, Gloria Williams, | 5 | | Alice Smith, and Imeater Davison; her brother, Rev. John H. | 6 | | (Vickie) Mims; her 16 grandchildren; her 30 | 7 | | great-grandchildren; her 5 great-great-grandchildren; and a | 8 | | host of relatives and friends; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 10 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 11 | | mourn the passing of Rosie Lee Lewis, and extend our sincere | 12 | | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 13 | | her; and be it further
