HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in the lives of Illinois citizens; and

WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Lynn Gorden Caulk celebrated his 95th Birthday this past summer; and

WHEREAS, Lynn Caulk was born to Robert and Essie Caulk on July 6, 1920, the 9th of 13 children; Lynn's father passed away when Lynn was 21 years old, leaving him to assist his mother with the upkeep of her home; he helped financially support his family and care for his 4 younger siblings; and

WHEREAS, Lynn Caulk graduated from Witt High School in 1938 and began working at a foundry in Schram City, manufacturing carburetors; and

WHEREAS, Lynn Caulk entered the United States Army on October 1, 1942, serving as a machine gunner in the 33rd Infantry, Heavy Weapons Division; he was stationed in the South Pacific for 39 months in combat without leave until his discharge on December 22, 1945; and

WHEREAS, Upon his return from service to his country, Lynn Caulk went to work at Eagle Pitcher; he then went to work for Illinois Power in 1950 until his retirement as Line Crew Foreman in August of 1982; and

WHEREAS, Lynn Caulk married Rose Reck on January 31, 1948 and they were blessed with 3 children, Roger, Rose Ann, and Penny; he remained married to Rose for 50 years until her death in 1998; and

WHEREAS, Lynn Caulk moved to the Rochester area in November of 1996 to be near his daughters, Penny and Rose Ann; he later moved to Springfield, where he shuttled cars to auction sites for various automobile dealerships in the area; he continued driving until the age of 90; and

WHEREAS, Lynn Caulk found love again late in life with Claire Papai; after 17 years together, the 2 spend their time playing cards, traveling, reading, and enjoying their golden years together; and

WHEREAS, Lynn Caulk has 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; he is still an active card player and is an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Illini basketball teams; in his spare time, he enjoys walking, reading, and working on Sudoku puzzles; and

WHEREAS, Lynn Caulk is highly respected in his community and deeply loved by his family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize and honor Lynn Gorden Caulk for his contributions to his community and our nation; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Lynn Caulk as an expression of our esteem and respect.
