| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Carol
Shehorn on | 4 | | the occasion of her retirement on December 31, 2016, after 27 | 5 | | years of dedicated service as
a leadership secretary for the | 6 | | Democratic Caucus of the Illinois House of Representatives; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Since September 21, 1987, Carol Shehorn has served | 8 | | in important roles behind the scenes to
keep all legislators, | 9 | | staff, and other interested parties well-informed about | 10 | | pending legislation; her job
included creating, with never an | 11 | | error, and distributing the House Rules Committee reports, | 12 | | which are
often pages and pages long; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Carol Shehorn was the model of efficiency, | 14 | | effectiveness, patience, and caring; she worked
with House | 15 | | Majority Leader Barbara Flynn Currie for many years, as well as | 16 | | other leaders, including Jim
McPike, Gary Hannig, Jack McGuire, | 17 | | and Sara Feigenholtz; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Due to her ability to maintain her pleasant | 19 | | disposition and offer a smile to everyone, even on the
most | 20 | | hectic of session days, Carol Shehorn earned the Golden | 21 | | Horseshoe Award for Best House Administrative
Assistant in 2013 | 22 | | and 2015; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Carol Shehorn never saw her job as an opportunity | 2 | | to burnish her own halo but rather to make
everyone else look | 3 | | good; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Carol Shehorn will remain active in her retirement | 5 | | with her husband, Cliff, their children, and
their many | 6 | | grandchildren; she plans to indulge her passion for overseas | 7 | | travel, particularly to visit with her family in
Italy; she | 8 | | will expand her volunteer hours and interests with her church | 9 | | and St. John's Hospital; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 11 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 12 | | congratulate the irreplaceable Carol Shehorn on her
| 13 | | retirement, thank her for her many years of dedicated service | 14 | | to the Illinois General Assembly and the
people of the State of | 15 | | Illinois, and wish her many happy and healthy retirement years; | 16 | | and be it further
| 17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 18 | | presented to Carol Shehorn as a symbol of our
respect and | 19 | | esteem.
