2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by |
5 | | changing Section 8-2-9.1 as follows:
|
6 | | (65 ILCS 5/8-2-9.1) (from Ch. 24, par. 8-2-9.1)

7 | | Sec. 8-2-9.1. Budget officer. Every municipality with with |
8 | | a population of
less than 500,000
(except special charter |
9 | | municipalities having a population in excess of
50,000) that |
10 | | has adopted this Section 8-2-9.1 and Sections
8-2-9.2
through |
11 | | 8-2-9.10 by a two-thirds majority vote of those members of the
|
12 | | corporate authorities then holding office shall have a budget |
13 | | officer who
shall be designated by the mayor or president, with |
14 | | the approval of the
corporate authorities. In municipalities |
15 | | operating
under the
commission form of government, the |
16 | | commissioner of accounts and
finances shall designate the |
17 | | budget officer,
with the approval of the council or board of |
18 | | trustees, as the case may
be. In municipalities with a |
19 | | managerial form of government, the
municipal
manager shall |
20 | | designate the budget officer. The budget officer shall
take an |
21 | | oath and post a bond as provided in
Section 3.1-10-25. The |
22 | | budget officer may hold another municipal
office,
either |
23 | | elected or appointed, and may receive compensation for both |
