| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of William Bernard Nagy, who passed away on | 4 | | December 13, 2014; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, William Nagy was born on June 19, 1924 in | 6 | | Divernon; his parents were Frank Nagy, Sr. and Terez (nee Csak) | 7 | | Nagy; he married the former Dorothy Collins on May 28, 1949; | 8 | | and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, William Nagy was raised in the Catholic Children's | 10 | | Home in Alton; he graduated from Marquette High School and | 11 | | attended Shurtleff College and Southern Illinois University | 12 | | Edwardsville; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, William Nagy served his country as a member of the | 14 | | United States Navy in the South Pacific during World War II as | 15 | | a gunner's mate; during his service, he participated in the | 16 | | D-Day Invasion on Omaha Beach and also survived the sinking of | 17 | | 2 ships that he served on; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, William Nagy retired as an engineer from Goulds | 19 | | Pumps in St. Louis, Missouri in 1992 after many years of | 20 | | service; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, William Nagy was a past President of the | 2 | | Owens-Illinois Camera Club, a President of the Parent Teacher | 3 | | Association, a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post | 4 | | 1308, and President of the Senior Citizens of Fosterburg; he | 5 | | attended leadership training at the Philmont Scout Ranch and | 6 | | served as Cubmaster and Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of | 7 | | America and took a group of scouts to the National Jamboree at | 8 | | Valley Forge; he also proudly traveled with Honor Flight to | 9 | | Washington, D.C.; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, William Nagy enjoyed ballroom and square dancing, | 11 | | vegetable gardening, photography, creating stained glass art, | 12 | | playing tournament bridge, and building and repairing things; | 13 | | and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, William Nagy is survived by his wife, Dorothy; 2 | 15 | | children, Dennis Nagy (fiancee, Karen Cooper) and Gayle Hill | 16 | | Poehlman (Bruce); 8 grandchildren, Kristopher Nagy (Sarah), | 17 | | Brian Nagy, Matthew Nagy, Eleanor Nagy, Patrick Nagy, Ryan | 18 | | Hill, Nathan Hill, and Chester (Ashley) Hill, IV; 11 | 19 | | great-grandchildren; and 3 brothers, Frank (June) Nagy, Jr., | 20 | | James (Marilyn) Nagy, and John (Helen) Nagy; therefore, be it
| 21 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 22 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | 23 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of William Bernard Nagy; |
