| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Johnnie Horton Jackson, who passed away | 4 | | on February 22, 2015; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Johnnie Jackson was born in Bolivar, Tennessee on | 6 | | October 31, 1922 to Elizabeth Bills and Sydney Horton; she | 7 | | moved to Chicago with her daughter and continued her education, | 8 | | becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse; she married Harry T. | 9 | | Jackson on December 3, 1966; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Johnnie Jackson worked for St. Francis Hospital in | 11 | | Evanston for 35 years in the nursery and neonatal units; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Johnnie Jackson was a member of Christ Universal | 13 | | Temple for over 50 years; she enjoyed traveling across the | 14 | | United States and to many foreign countries; she also enjoyed | 15 | | shopping, sitting out on the patio during the summer, talking | 16 | | with her neighbors, and learning to play the trumpet; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Johnnie Jackson was preceded in death by her | 18 | | husband, Harry; her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy
and Benjamin | 19 | | Lubin; her grandson, Dwain Lubin; and her sister and
| 20 | | brother-in-law, Garland and James Mann, Sr.; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Johnnie Jackson is survived by her granddaughter, | 2 | | Dr. Niva Lubin-Johnson (Joseph Johnson);
her nephew, James | 3 | | Mann, Jr.; her niece, Sybil (Peter) Mitchell; her special
| 4 | | nieces, Patricia (Donnie) Jackson-McDaniel, Deborah
(Robert) | 5 | | Simmons, June DuPree, and Stephanie McCullum; her
cousins, John | 6 | | Roberts, Mortigue Walker, and Andrew Walker;
and her | 7 | | great-nieces and great-nephews; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Johnnie Horton Jackson, and extend our sincere condolences to | 11 | | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 12 | | further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of Johnnie Jackson as an expression of | 15 | | our deepest sympathy.
