| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Walter Franz Veile, who passed away on | 4 | | February 24, 2015; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Walter Veile was born in Heidenheim Germany on | 6 | | November 7, 1933 to Kaspar & Frida (nee Schwendemann) Veile; | 7 | | and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Walter Veile learned the baking profession as an | 9 | | apprentice in his uncle's bakery and later worked as a baker | 10 | | and pastry chef in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria; he | 11 | | immigrated to the United States in 1957 and settled in the | 12 | | Chicago area, working in several bakeries; he then served in | 13 | | the United States Army for 2 years; he married Verena Lauener | 14 | | of Switzerland in 1971 and they moved to Lake Bluff shortly | 15 | | thereafter; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Upon returning from the Army, Walter Veile opened | 17 | | Walter's Bakery in North Chicago, which he operated for several | 18 | | years before owning and operating Market Square Pastries in | 19 | | Lake Forest; he retired in 1994; and | 20 | | WHEREAS, Walter Veile was an avid model train and stamp | 21 | | collector and was very active with the D.A.N.K. | 2 | | WHEREAS, Walter Veile was preceded in death by his parents, | 3 | | and his wife, Verena; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Walter Veile is survived by his children, Markus | 5 | | (Janel) and Sonja (Jeremy) Dwyer; his grandchildren, Ella, | 6 | | Leah, Abigail, and Alexander; his brothers, Herbert (Maria) and | 7 | | Gerhart; as well as many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Walter Franz Veile, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 11 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 12 | | further
