| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Gordon H. "Gordy" Wilke of Union, who | 4 | | passed away on June 10, 2015; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Gordon Wilke was born in Elgin on March 3, 1940 to | 6 | | Walter and Caroline (nee Barr) Wilke; he served in the United | 7 | | States Army and married Bonnie Yerke in Union on September 5, | 8 | | 1964; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Gordon Wilke owned and operated Clasens Tavern in | 10 | | Union for over 20 years; he held a position as a rural carrier | 11 | | for the Huntley Post Office for 17 years; he began his career | 12 | | as a volunteer firefighter on the Union Fire Department in | 13 | | 1964; in 1994, he was appointed as a Trustee for the Union Fire | 14 | | Protection District to finish his 47-year career with the fire | 15 | | department; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Gordon Wilke served and volunteered with many | 17 | | organizations, including the Moose Club in Harvard; he was | 18 | | Treasurer for the Village of Union, a member of the Union Lions | 19 | | Club, President of the Union Cemetery Board, and a board member | 20 | | of Siems Memorial Park; and | 21 | | WHEREAS, Gordon Wilke was a member of St. John's United |

| 1 | | Church of Christ in Union for over 50 years; he loved to | 2 | | travel, especially camping with his family, and was an avid | 3 | | Chicago Bears fan; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Gordon Wilke was preceded in death by his parents; | 5 | | and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Gordon Wilke is survived by his wife of 50 years, | 7 | | Bonnie; his children, Beth (Will) Lulinski and Dan (Holli) | 8 | | Wilke; his grandchildren, Tommy and Mia Lulinski; his | 9 | | step-mother, Hettie Wilke; his brother, Jim (Sue) Wilke; his | 10 | | sister, Virginia (Bern) Danielson; his step-brothers, Wayne | 11 | | (Diane) Wilke, Charlie (Barb) Seelhoff, Ron Seelhoff, and Vern | 12 | | (Violet) Seelhoff; and his brother-in-law, Tom Yerke and Doris; | 13 | | therefore, be it
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 16 | | Gordon H. "Gordy" Wilke, and extend our sincere condolences to | 17 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 18 | | further
