| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of David Webster of Geneva, who passed away | 4 | | on July 10, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, David Webster was born on January 5, 1941 in | 6 | | Boston, Massachusetts; his parents were David and Kathleen | 7 | | Webster; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, David Webster graduated from Boston English High | 9 | | School in 1958; he earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of | 10 | | Science in Physiology from Boston University; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, David Webster served in the United States Marine | 12 | | Corps from 1958 to 1963; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, David Webster played first singles tennis at | 14 | | Boston University from 1959 to 1962; he played in the Junior | 15 | | Davis Cup second singles and was in a round of 16 finalists at | 16 | | the Junior Wimbledon in England in 1960; he was a U.S. Open | 17 | | qualifier in 1962 and competed in gymnastics at Boston | 18 | | University; he was the all-around winner at the New England | 19 | | Gymnastics Championships in 1961 and a NCAA finalist in 1961; | 20 | | in 1962, he was named a Modern Gymnast Magazine All-American; | 21 | | after college, he served as the strength coach for the Boston |

| 1 | | Patriots; and | 2 | | WHEREAS, After moving to Glen Ellyn, David Webster coached | 3 | | and taught at the College of DuPage from 1969 to 1999; he | 4 | | served as the men's and women's tennis and gymnastics coach, | 5 | | assistant football coach, assistant and head hockey coach, | 6 | | interim athletic director, and kinesiology professor; he | 7 | | inspired generations of student athletes and his tennis teams | 8 | | were nationally ranked in the NJCAA Top 12 seven times; he had | 9 | | 128 State champions in both singles and doubles and over 20 | 10 | | All-Americans; as the College of DuPage gymnastics coach, he | 11 | | had 60 national medalists, 300 lifetime wins, and 30 National | 12 | | Champions and All-Americans in 14 years; he was an | 13 | | International Gymnastics Judge, having judged the Olympic | 14 | | trials in 1968 and 1972; he was inducted into the Gymnastics | 15 | | Hall of Fame in 1989; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, David Webster was preceded in death by his parents | 17 | | and his sisters, Marion and Donna; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, David Webster is survived by his wife of 36 years, | 19 | | Barbara Webster; his children, Pamela (Ray) Webster | 20 | | Richardson, Allison (Andy) Webster Stromberg, Elizabeth | 21 | | (Christoph) Groth, and Andrew (Purani) Webster; and his | 22 | | grandchildren, Marena and Nalin Richardson, Isabelle and Tess | 23 | | Stromberg, and Maximillian Groth; therefore, be it
