| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Thomas E. O'Brien, Jr. of East Moline, | 4 | | who passed away on October 28, 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Thomas O'Brien, Jr. was born on April 26, 1940 in | 6 | | Sharon, Pennsylvania; his parents were Thomas E., Sr. and | 7 | | Coramae O'Brien; he married Katherine "Kay" Doty on June 8, | 8 | | 1963 at St. John's Catholic Church in Andrew, Iowa; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Thomas O'Brien, Jr. attended Loras College in | 10 | | Dubuque, Iowa, where he met his future wife; after graduating | 11 | | from Loras College in June of 1962, he served in active duty | 12 | | with the United States Marine Corps Reserve at Parris Island | 13 | | and Camp Lejeune; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Thomas O'Brien, Jr. was employed at the IBM | 15 | | Corporation for 30 years; he retired in 1993 after holding | 16 | | various sales positions and sales management positions at the | 17 | | company; and | 18 | | WHEREAS, Following his retirement, Thomas O'Brien, Jr. | 19 | | served as a volunteer for several years with the local Chapter | 20 | | of the Service Corps of Retired Executives; he developed a | 21 | | passion for golfing; he also enjoyed spending time with his |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Thomas O'Brien, Jr. was preceded in death by his | 3 | | parents and his brothers, Mont and Daniel; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Thomas O'Brien, Jr. is survived by his wife of 53 | 5 | | years, Kay; his sons, Timothy (Diana) O'Brien, Patrick (Celest) | 6 | | O'Brien, and Matthew (Susan) O'Brien; his grandchildren, | 7 | | Tyler, Kate, Joey, Alex, Molly, Nicholas, Lauren, John, and | 8 | | Katelyn; and his brother, Hugh (Laura) O'Brien; therefore, be | 9 | | it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | 12 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of Thomas E. O'Brien, | 13 | | Jr.; and be it further
