| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate the Jacksonville High | 4 | | School Winterguard on their accomplishments at regional and | 5 | | state competitions; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The Jacksonville High School Winterguard competed | 7 | | at five Illinois Drill Team Association (IDTA) regional | 8 | | competitions in the categories of AA Tall Flag and AA Lyrical | 9 | | Flag; their Tall Flag routine was undefeated, earned first | 10 | | place at all five regional competitions, and then qualified for | 11 | | State; their Lyrical Flag routine earned second place at one | 12 | | regional competition, first place at four regional | 13 | | competitions, and qualified for State multiple times; for the | 14 | | first time in Jacksonville High School history, both routines | 15 | | won the State Championship title at the State Finals; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, The Lyrical Flag routine was performed to the | 17 | | acoustic version of the song "Fight Song" by Rachel Platten and | 18 | | focused on the story and the message of strength; each team | 19 | | member chose a cause to support and raise awareness for, | 20 | | including adoption, ALS, Alzheimer's Disease, anxiety | 21 | | disorder, asthma, autism, breast cancer, cerebral palsy, child | 22 | | abuse, childhood cancer, childhood disabilities, deafness, | 23 | | domestic violence, epilepsy, gun, violence, heart disease, |

| 1 | | leukemia, LGBT, mental illness, pancreatic cancer, PTSD, | 2 | | reproductive rights, safe driving, self harm, SIDS, substance | 3 | | abuse, suicide prevention, and Tourette's Syndrome; those | 4 | | causes were represented with ribbons sewn onto their uniforms; | 5 | | and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The Jacksonville High School Winterguard is | 7 | | coached by Head Coach, Rachel Mansell; and Assistant Coaches, | 8 | | James Vannier and Jessica Vannier; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, The Jacksonville High School Winterguard team | 10 | | members are Karson Baker, Alyssa Barrow, Abbi Blanford, Breanna | 11 | | Butler, Taylor Caldwell, Tanasia Clark, Kayla Critchelow, Emma | 12 | | Decker, Faith Hadlock, Summer Harris, Rissa Kroemelbein, Kira | 13 | | Morton-White, Serenity Norman, Jasmin Watson, and Piper | 14 | | Upchurch; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, The Jacksonville High School Winterguard serves | 16 | | as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the | 17 | | people of the State; therefore, be it
| 18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 19 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 20 | | congratulate the Jacksonville High School Winterguard on | 21 | | winning the State Championship title for both of their routines | 22 | | for the first time in the school's history; and be it further
