| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate the Mexican Folkloric | 4 | | Dance Company of Chicago on its 36th anniversary; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, The Mexican Folkloric Dance Company of Chicago was | 6 | | founded on February 17, 1982 and incorporated on March 28, | 7 | | 1983; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, The Mexican Folkloric Dance Company of Chicago | 9 | | will be celebrating its 36th anniversary at the Studebaker | 10 | | Theatre, 410 S. Michigan Avenue, Chicago, on May 11, 2018, | 11 | | doing what it loves to do, performing the inspirational and | 12 | | tradition rich folkloric dances of Mexico; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, The Mexican Folkloric Dance Company of Chicago | 14 | | through its authentic dance performances has been successful in | 15 | | its efforts to educate the public on its vast dance repertoire | 16 | | and to preserve this heritage among the Mexican community; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, The Mexican Folkloric Dance Company of Chicago has | 18 | | toured nationally and internationally; it performed in Mexico | 19 | | in 1988 and in Ireland in 2007 and 2009; it performed for | 20 | | President Reagan's 1985 visit to Chicago Heights, the 1987 Pan | 21 | | Am games before then-Vice President Bush, the 1994 World Cup |

| 1 | | before President Clinton, and Mexican President Fox's visit to | 2 | | Chicago in 2001; it also performed for Governor James Thompson, | 3 | | Governor Rod Blagojevich, Mayor Richard Daley, Mayor Harold | 4 | | Washington, and world renowned musical duo Steve Lawrence and | 5 | | Eydie Gorme; it performed with mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan in | 6 | | 2003, 2004, and 2018, Pepe Aguilar in 2007 and 2009, Juan | 7 | | Gabriel in 2009, and Los Tigres del Norte in 2016 and 2017; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, The Mexican Folkloric Dance Company of Chicago has | 9 | | received almost 300 awards, grants, and recognitions; | 10 | | therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 12 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 13 | | congratulate the Mexican Folkloric Dance Company of Chicago on | 14 | | its 36th anniversary; we honor them for their success in | 15 | | educating the public on Mexican heritage through dance, and we | 16 | | extend our best wishes to them for continued success in all of | 17 | | their future endeavors; and be it further
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 19 | | presented to the Mexican Folkloric Dance Company of Chicago as | 20 | | an expression of our respect and esteem.
