| 1 | | SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General
| 3 | | Assembly pays honor and respect to truly great individuals; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Six brothers of the Kaszynski Family of Peru | 5 | | served in World War II; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Five of the brothers served in the United States | 7 | | Army: Bernard, Florian, Thaddeus, Alex Jr., and Richard; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, One brother, Chester, served with the United | 9 | | States Merchant Marine during World War II and with the United | 10 | | States Army during
the Korean War; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, The Kaszynski brothers served all over the world | 12 | | during World War II in places such as Guadalcanal, Tangal, the
| 13 | | Panama Canal Zone, New Guinea, the Philippines, and Iceland; | 14 | | and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Alex Jr. was the only brother who was seriously | 16 | | wounded in action on Luzon and was awarded the
Purple Heart; | 17 | | therefore, be it
| 18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 19 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES |

| 1 | | CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate Route 6 from Mary Street | 2 | | in Spring Valley to Harrison Street in Peru as the "Kaszynski
| 3 | | Brothers Memorial Highway"; and be it further | 4 | | RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
| 5 | | is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
| 6 | | State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
| 7 | | giving notice of the name the "Kaszynski Brothers Memorial | 8 | | Highway; and be it further
| 9 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | 10 | | presented to the Kaszynski Family, Peru Mayor Scott J. Harl, | 11 | | Spring Valley Mayor Walt Marini, and the Secretary of the | 12 | | Department of Transportation.
