| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Ronald Haznedl, who passed away on | 4 | | February 16, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ronald Haznedl was born in Berwyn to Frank and | 6 | | Mildred (Straka) Haznedl on October 1, 1935; he graduated from | 7 | | J. Sterling Morton High School in Cicero; he obtained his | 8 | | bachelor's degree from Wheaton College, attended New York | 9 | | Theological Seminary, and received his Master of Divinity from | 10 | | McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago; later, he earned a | 11 | | master's degree in anthropology at Northern Illinois | 12 | | University; and | 13 | | WHEREAS, Ronald Haznedl taught philosophy, anthropology, | 14 | | and related disciplines at McHenry County College (MCC), where | 15 | | he created a new course, Archaeology of the Ancient Middle | 16 | | East, and enjoyed sharing his knowledge and experiences with | 17 | | his students; he continued to share his experiences with a | 18 | | variety of groups young and old during and after his tenure at | 19 | | MCC, helping people understand the rich culture of the Middle | 20 | | East on a personal level; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, In 1959, Ronald Haznedl participated in an | 22 | | archaeological excavation in Palestine, where he discovered |

| 1 | | the largest tomb in terms of number of objects; through the | 2 | | years, he participated in a number of archaeological and | 3 | | cultural experiences in the Middle East; and | 4 | | WHEREAS, Ronald Haznedl served as pastor of the Second | 5 | | Presbyterian Church of Aurora for over a decade; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Ronald Haznedl was preceded in death by his | 7 | | parents; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Ronald Haznedl is survived by his wife of 40 | 9 | | years, Alice; his brother, Allen; his sister, Lois (Arthur) | 10 | | Siml; his sons, Stephen (Margaret) and Craig (Velma Carol) | 11 | | Farr; and his grandchildren, Abigail and Ethan Farr; therefore, | 12 | | be it
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 15 | | Ronald Haznedl, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 16 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 17 | | further
