| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Paul S. Hursey of Urbana, who passed away | 4 | | on March 14, 2017; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Paul Hursey was born in Urbana to Edgar Calhoun | 6 | | and Caddy Gray Hursey on July 24, 1930; he graduated from | 7 | | Urbana High School in 1948 and attended the University of | 8 | | Illinois from 1948 to 1951; he served in the United States Army | 9 | | and was selected to attend Officer Candidate School; after | 10 | | completing his training, he was commissioned to a Second | 11 | | Lieutenant, and served from 1951 to 1953; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Paul Hursey was Deputy Director of Personnel at | 13 | | the University of Illinois in 1994; he served as President of | 14 | | the board of CASA and the Director of Douglass Center in | 15 | | Champaign; he also served as Urbana city alderman for the 3rd | 16 | | Ward, the Executive Director of EOC in Champaign County, and | 17 | | the Affirmative Action Officer and coordinator of labor | 18 | | relations at the University of Illinois; he was also owner of | 19 | | Lincoln Press Book Bindery in Urbana; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Paul Hursey was an avid golfer and a longtime | 21 | | member of the DUC Hookers Golf Club; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Paul Hursey was preceded in death by his parents, | 2 | | four brothers, and three sisters; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Paul Hursey is survived by his wife, Martha | 4 | | Hursey; his children, Paul S. Hursey Jr., and Shirese Hursey; | 5 | | his grandchildren, Paul III, Christian, Quentin, and Alyssa; | 6 | | his great-grandchildren, Gabrielle and Alexandra; and a host of | 7 | | nieces, nephews, and friends; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Paul S. Hursey, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 11 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 12 | | further | 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of Paul Hursey as an expression of our | 15 | | deepest sympathy.
