| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Joe Rittenhouse of Bement, who passed | 4 | | away on April 2, 2017; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Joe Rittenhouse was born in Decatur to Joe H. and | 6 | | Phyllis Metcalf Rittenhouse on December 20, 1940; he married | 7 | | Ronda Morris in Ivesdale on July 7, 1962; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Joe Rittenhouse was one of the youngest township | 9 | | highway commissioners in Illinois; he was elected in 1962 and | 10 | | served until 2017, when he was re-elected again two days after | 11 | | his passing; and | 12 | | WHEREAS, Joe Rittenhouse was very active with Central | 13 | | State's Threshermen's Association; he was a board member for | 14 | | over 41 years; he served as Vice-President from 1984-1998, and | 15 | | then again in 2001; he had been President of the Board for the | 16 | | last 12 years; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Joe Rittenhouse was a member of the Bement United | 18 | | Methodist Church; he was a 47-year member of the Bement Masonic | 19 | | Lodge #365 AF and AM and was a charter member of the Piatt | 20 | | County Historical Society; he served as Piatt County Republican | 21 | | Precinct Committeeman and served on the Bement Fire Protection |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Joe Rittenhouse was preceded in death by his | 3 | | parents and his wife Ronda; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Joe Rittenhouse is survived by his children, | 5 | | Melissa (Mark) Yoder and Morris Rittenhouse; his | 6 | | grandchildren, Tyler (Jacqueline) Yoder, Kyle (Cindy) Yoder | 7 | | and Tyce Rittenhouse; his great-grandson, Maxwell Yoder; his | 8 | | siblings, Stephen Rittenhouse and Carolyn (Melvin) Rittenhouse | 9 | | Jacobs; and his brother-in-law, Dave (Linda) Morris; | 10 | | therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | Joe Rittenhouse, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 14 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 15 | | further
