| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Donald E. Swanson Jr. of East Moline, who | 4 | | passed away on April 3, 2017; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Donald Swanson was born in Moline to Donald E. Sr. | 6 | | and Evelyn Renner Swanson on November 8, 1945; he graduated | 7 | | from Moline High School in 1963 and was a member of the | 8 | | baseball team; he attended the University of Illinois where he | 9 | | earned his degree in accounting; he served in the United States | 10 | | Army Reserve and married Marcia Hoaglund in Rock Island on | 11 | | September 10, 1966; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Donald Swanson was an accountant and later was in | 13 | | automobile sales at Green Chrysler and Courtesy Nissan; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Donald Swanson was active with his church, serving | 15 | | in various offices and as a deacon and elder; he was a member | 16 | | of the Moline Elks and the Moline Jaycees; he was a coach in | 17 | | the East Moline Youth Baseball/Softball organization; he loved | 18 | | gardening, reading, and was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs | 19 | | and die-hard Illini fan; most of all he enjoyed attending his | 20 | | grandsons' activities, they were the light of his life; and

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Donald Swanson is survived by his wife, Marcia; | 3 | | his children, Lynne Swanson, Jackie (Tim) Flemming, and Stephen | 4 | | Swanson; three grandsons, Aaron, Ethan, and Tyler Flemming; his | 5 | | sister, Elaine (Jim) Nelson; his stepfather, Marvin Schiess; | 6 | | and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 9 | | Donald E. Swanson Jr., and extend our sincere condolences to | 10 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 11 | | further | 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Donald Swanson as an expression of | 14 | | our deepest sympathy.
