| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Elaine Sue Nell of McHenry, who passed | 4 | | away on May 14, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Elaine Nell was born in McHenry to Ambrose and | 6 | | Dorothy (Freund) Schaefer on October 6, 1927; she married her | 7 | | McHenry High School sweetheart, Henry F. Nell, at St. Mary | 8 | | Catholic Church in McHenry on February 7, 1948, with the | 9 | | groom's uncle, Father George Nell officiating; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Elaine Nell had an active interest in history; she | 11 | | was a charter member of the McHenry County Historical Society, | 12 | | the Genealogical society, and a member of the American Legion | 13 | | and V.F.W of McHenry; she enjoyed painting, flower arranging, | 14 | | gardening, sewing, baking, and being creative; Sundays were | 15 | | always Bears football days, her favorite team; she started a | 16 | | Monthly Widows Club in which she and other widows would meet | 17 | | once a month at a local restaurant for lunch; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Elaine Nell was an active member of the St. Mary | 19 | | Council of Catholic Women, where she enjoyed helping with the | 20 | | annual rummage sale for which she made all the signs for over | 21 | | 35 years; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Elaine Nell was preceded in death by her parents; | 2 | | her husband, Hank Nell; her sister and brother-in law, Marilyn | 3 | | (Tom) Harrison; and her sister-in-law, Henrietta Nell; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Elaine Nell is survived by her daughters, Cindy | 5 | | Oeffling (Rick Sweeney), Jessie (Denny) Smith, and Beth Staley; | 6 | | her grandsons, Nick (Amy) Oeffling, Brad (April) Oeffling, | 7 | | Chris Smith, Dave Smith, and Matt Staley (Becky Bland); her | 8 | | great-grandchildren, Braylen, Brynlee, and Grant Oeffling; and | 9 | | her sister-in-law, Ethel Nell; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 | | Elaine Sue Nell, and extend our sincere condolences to her | 13 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 14 | | further
