| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Lynn K. Smith of McHenry, who passed away | 4 | | on June 23, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Lynn Smith graduated from Barrington High School; | 6 | | and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Lynn Smith began working at IBM in 1997 and became | 8 | | a skilled and highly regarded project manager; in 2002, she | 9 | | earned her Master of Project Management from the George | 10 | | Washington University School of Business; in 2011, she joined | 11 | | the Follett Corporation in their FSS division; she quickly | 12 | | became the director of Follett's Project Management Office, | 13 | | working directly with the president and his executive strategy | 14 | | team; one year into her tenure at Follett, she was awarded the | 15 | | prestigious Follett Values award for accountability; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, In 2003, Lynn Smith met Al Janus at a party in | 17 | | Cary and they have been together ever since; they have enjoyed | 18 | | living along the Fox River waterfront together; she loved her | 19 | | "adopted kids", Annie and Cougar; she was an avid boater and | 20 | | enjoyed being out on the water or relaxing at the beach; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Lynn Smith was preceded in death by her father, |

| 1 | | Henry D. Smith, and her sister, Karin Seiler (Ed); and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Lynn Smith is survived by her mother, Kathleen | 3 | | Smith; her siblings, Michael Smith (Lynn), Dawn Huffman (Bill), | 4 | | and Robin Smith; an uncle; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; | 5 | | and her longtime partner, Al Janus and his family; therefore, | 6 | | be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 9 | | Lynn K. Smith, and extend our sincere condolences to her | 10 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 11 | | further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Lynn Smith as an expression of our | 14 | | deepest sympathy.
