| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Evelyn VanPuyvelde of Rock Island, who | 4 | | passed away on June 30, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Evelyn VanPuyvelde was born in South Bend, Indiana | 6 | | to Achiel and Rosalie Lootens Accoe on February 10, 1922; she | 7 | | served in the United States Navy during World War II and | 8 | | married Albert VanPuyvelde at Christ the King Church in South | 9 | | Bend on May 28, 1949; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Evelyn VanPuyvelde worked at the former Adult | 11 | | Mentally Handicapped of Rock Island County as activities | 12 | | supervisor; she later served as a tax auditor for the IRS; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Evelyn VanPuyvelde was a member of Sacred Heart | 14 | | Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, and the Center for | 15 | | Belgian Culture, where she and her husband, Albert, initiated | 16 | | the waffle breakfast and traveled with their waffle wagon to | 17 | | many events in and out of Illinois; she was also a member of | 18 | | the Rock Island Lady Elks, Waves National Unit 105, where she | 19 | | was president, and American Legion Post 246 in Moline; she was | 20 | | an avid bridge player, and she and Albert were talented | 21 | | enthusiastic dancers; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Evelyn VanPuyvelde was preceded in death by her | 2 | | husband, Albert; her sister, Marie Bokon; and her brothers, | 3 | | George and Richard Accoe; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Evelyn VanPuyvelde is survived by her | 5 | | sisters-in-law, Helen Accoe and Pauline Accoe, and several | 6 | | nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 9 | | Evelyn VanPuyvelde, and extend our sincere condolences to her | 10 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 11 | | further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Evelyn VanPuyvelde as an expression | 14 | | of our deepest sympathy.
