| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Peter R. "Pete" Stefanich of Crest Hill, | 4 | | who passed away on August 6, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Peter Stefanich was born in Joliet to Peter and | 6 | | Anna (Sotlich) Stefanich on August 31, 1923; he worked for the | 7 | | United States Post Office and retired after 27 years; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Peter Stefanich served in the United States Army | 9 | | during World War II; he fought in battles and campaigns in | 10 | | Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe; he | 11 | | received several Bronze Star Medals; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Peter Stefanich was a member of Cantigny Post #367 | 13 | | VFW and KSKJ St. Francis de Sales Lodge #29 of the American | 14 | | Slovenian Catholic Union; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Peter Stefanich was preceded in death by his | 16 | | parents; his brothers, Matthew, Joseph, Frank, Louis, and | 17 | | Edward Stefanich; his sisters, Betty (Charles) DeJule, Mary | 18 | | Stefanich, Ann Stefanich, and Catherine (Stan) Merzlock; and | 19 | | his brother-in-law, Robert Wolz; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Peter Stefanich is survived by his loving wife, |
