| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Helen M. Beutel of Joliet, who passed | 4 | | away on August 24, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Helen Beutel was born in Auburn to John and | 6 | | Cecilia Bedesky on December 21, 1930 and moved to Joliet with | 7 | | her family as a child; she graduated from the Cathedral of St. | 8 | | Raymond Grade School and St. Francis Academy in 1948; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Helen Beutel was a mother and homemaker first, but | 10 | | was also employed by the University of St. Francis for 20 | 11 | | years, serving in a variety of roles - financial aid | 12 | | administrator, accounts payable, and payroll clerk; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Helen Beutel was a member of St. John the Baptist | 14 | | Catholic Church, where she served as president of the Mother's | 15 | | Club and the Council of Catholic Women-Sacred Heart League; she | 16 | | worked on inaugurating and co-chairing the Cornfest and | 17 | | Octoberfest fundraisers; she was a member of the Joliet Rivals | 18 | | Club Auxiliary, St. Paul's Paulites, and the St. Ray's Seniors | 19 | | Club; and | 20 | | WHEREAS, Helen Beutel was an avid bowler and golfer; she | 21 | | enjoyed time spent with her husband and friends playing cards, |

| 1 | | watching her grandchildren at sporting events, and playing with | 2 | | her great-grandchildren; she was sometimes known as the "Card | 3 | | Lady" for her habit of sending friends, relatives, children, | 4 | | and grandchildren birthday cards, anniversary cards, get well | 5 | | cards and, for the kids, two dollar bills; she kept the post | 6 | | office and Hallmark in business for years; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Helen Beutel was preceded in death by her parents; | 8 | | her husband, Bob; her brother, John Bedesky; and her | 9 | | brothers-in-law, George Beutel and Richard Alsbury; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Helen Beutel is survived by her children, Chuck | 11 | | (Denise Clemens) Terdic and Karen (Dave) Terdic; her | 12 | | grandchildren, Matt (Stephanie) Terdic, Andy Terdic, Chris | 13 | | Terdic, and Megan Beutel; her twin great-grandchildren, Caleb | 14 | | and Madison Terdic; her sisters-in-law, Eileen Bedesky, | 15 | | Charlene (William) Kobe, Janet Alsbury, and Eleanore Beutel; | 16 | | her brothers-in-law, James (Joann) Beutel and Gordon (Nancy) | 17 | | Beutel; her good friend and "lunch buddy", Jennie Perkins; and | 18 | | numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 20 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 21 | | Helen M. Beutel, and extend our sincere condolences to her | 22 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 23 | | further
