| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of William "Bill" J. Traynor of Pleasant | 4 | | Prairie, Wisconsin, formerly of Waukegan, who passed away on | 5 | | September 17, 2017; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Bill Traynor was born in Waukegan to Robert and | 7 | | Alice (Thompson)Traynor on November 30, 1946; he graduated from | 8 | | Waukegan High School in 1964; he went on to receive his | 9 | | bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University in 1969, and | 10 | | he later pursued graduate studies at Roosevelt University; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Bill Traynor was drafted into the United States | 12 | | Army as a military police sergeant and served in Korea; he was | 13 | | awarded the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service; | 14 | | upon separation from the service, he was employed as district | 15 | | manager for the Chicago Tribune before becoming a probation | 16 | | officer for Lake County, where he instituted the Public Service | 17 | | Program as an alternative to incarceration while providing | 18 | | needed services to the community; as the first program of its | 19 | | kind in Illinois, it received a National Association of | 20 | | Counties (NACO) award; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, Bill Traynor worked part time for | 22 | | many businesses, including Knox Real Estate, Grand Slam Pub, |

| 1 | | The Bally Muck, Victory Hospital, and the Waukegan Port | 2 | | District; he served as production manager and graphic artist at | 3 | | Signs Now for over 20 years and retired in 2010; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Bill Traynor loved sports and played softball, | 5 | | football, and basketball on college intramural teams and later | 6 | | for the park district; he was a lifelong fan of the Chicago | 7 | | Cubs and the Bears; he enjoyed the outdoors, biking, fishing, | 8 | | hiking, and camping; he was a longtime member of Memorial | 9 | | United Methodist Church of Zion and sang in the Chancel Choir | 10 | | for many years; most recently, he attended services at | 11 | | Northpoint Church in Winthrop Harbor; he celebrated 30 years of | 12 | | sobriety and mentored many recovering alcoholics over the | 13 | | years; he loved road trips and family vacations; above all, | 14 | | faith and family were his passions; and | 15 | | WHEREAS, Bill Traynor was preceded in death by his parents; | 16 | | and his son, Jason Traynor; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Bill Traynor is survived by his wife, Marjory; his | 18 | | sons, Son Ok Traynor and Andrew (Holly) Traynor; his | 19 | | stepdaughter, Sara (Brandon) Martin; his stepson, Alex | 20 | | Wicketts; his sisters, Carol (Dick) Paddock and Roberta (John) | 21 | | Daly; his grandsons, Finnegan and Colin Traynor and Bane | 22 | | Martin; his granddaughters, Emily and Shelby Wargo and Briseis | 23 | | Wicketts; and his many nieces, nephews, brothers, |

| 2 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 3 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 4 | | William "Bill" J. Traynor, and extend our sincere condolences | 5 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | 6 | | it further
| 7 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 8 | | presented to the family of Bill Traynor as an expression of our | 9 | | deepest sympathy.
