| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Marjorie "Midge" Novotny of Peoria, who | 4 | | passed away on October 1, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Marjorie Novotny was born in Galesburg to Ruby and | 6 | | Ralph Hawthorne on August 9, 1926; she graduated from the | 7 | | University of Illinois and married Albert J. Novotny in | 8 | | Galesburg on August 12, 1950; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Marjorie Novotny worked as a speech therapist in | 10 | | the public schools of Danville, Cicero, and Galesburg; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Marjorie Novotny was a member of the Lakeview | 12 | | Museum, the Peoria Historical Society, the Service League of | 13 | | Methodist Medical Center, the Crippled Children's Auxiliary, | 14 | | PEO, the First Federated Church, the Peoria Medical Society | 15 | | Alliance, and the Peoria Country Club; she volunteered for many | 16 | | years through Common Place, where she also served on the board; | 17 | | and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Marjorie Novotny was preceded in death by her | 19 | | parents and two brothers; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Marjorie Novotny is survived by her husband, |

| 1 | | Albert; her daughters, Susan Webber and Janet Dura; her son, | 2 | | John Novotny; her grandchildren, Sarah Webber, Aaron Webber, | 3 | | and Ellie and Katy Dura; her great-granddaughter, Lainey Jane | 4 | | Webber; and her nephews, Doug Hawthorne and Dean Hawthorne; | 5 | | therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 8 | | Marjorie "Midge" Novotny, and extend our sincere condolences to | 9 | | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 10 | | further
