| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Philip M. Corlew of Edwardsville, who | 4 | | passed away on October 3, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Philip Corlew was born in Litchfield to Morgan B. | 6 | | and Mary E. (Handlon) Corlew on June 28, 1938; he married | 7 | | Louise R. Gradolph in Champaign on November 12, 1960; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Philip Corlew was a civil engineer and registered | 9 | | land surveyor in four states; he operated M.B. Corlew & | 10 | | Associates in Edwardsville; after merging the business, he | 11 | | continued to practice as a consultant and expert witness; he | 12 | | served on the licensing board for the Professional Engineers | 13 | | for the State of Illinois; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Philip Corlew was a member of the First | 15 | | Presbyterian Church in Edwardsville; he was a member and past | 16 | | president of the Edwardsville Rotary Club, a Paul Harris | 17 | | Fellow, and a member of the Edwardsville Gun Club, the Sunset | 18 | | Hills Country Club, the American Consulting Engineers Council | 19 | | of Illinois, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the | 20 | | Sons of the American Revolution; he was proud to be an Eagle | 21 | | Scout; he enjoyed hunting with his dogs and friends and was | 22 | | proud of his dog's field trial accomplishments; he also enjoyed |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Philip Corlew was preceded in death by his parents | 3 | | and his wife, Louise; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Philip Corlew is survived by his daughters, | 5 | | Michelle Corlew and Elise S. Reis; his sister, Mary Georgia | 6 | | Simpson; his niece, Sherry Scarsdale; his nephew, Philip | 7 | | Simpson; and his great-nephew, William Curtis Beasley; | 8 | | therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Philip M. Corlew, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 12 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 13 | | further
