SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert B. Lawrence of Moline, who passed
4away on September 4, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Lawrence was born in West Frankfort to
6David and Genevieve Horrell Lawrence on January 16, 1925; he
7served in the 71st Infantry with the United States Army as a
8staff sergeant during World War II and fought in the Battle of
9the Bulge; he married Betty Henderson in Chicago on June 19,
101949 and graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College in 1950; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Robert Lawrence retired from Ditech Inc. in 1979,
12where he served as an owner/operator; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Robert Lawrence was a member of Riverside United
14Methodist Church in Moline for over 60 years and a member of
15United Methodist Men; he was active in his earlier years,
16coaching Biddy Basketball, Dad's Club Baseball, and Babe Ruth
17Baseball; he and Betty enjoyed their time with family and
18friends, loved watching their children and grandchildren in
19sporting events, and loved playing bridge and spending time at
20their cottage on Walloon Lake, Michigan; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Robert Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife

1of 68 years, Betty; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Robert Lawrence is survived by his sons, Terry
3(Lauren), Ted (Vicki), and Tom (Donna); his grandchildren, Bryn
4(Courtney), Evan (Kellene), Victoria (Greg), Nathan, Jacob,
5Lucas, David, Jamie (Aaron), and Jenna; and his
6great-grandchildren, Elijah and Sophia; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Robert B. Lawrence, and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Robert Lawrence as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
