SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ronald Lee "Ron" Bloom of Coal Valley, who passed away on December 12, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Ron Bloom was born in Clinton, Iowa on September 20, 1940; he was raised in Burlington, Iowa by his mother and stepfather, Helen (Hass) and Leroy Evans; he served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963 and married Georgia Sawyer Parker in Coal Valley on March 29, 1996; and

WHEREAS, Ron Bloom worked in sales for UPS Freight in Rock Island for 19 years, retiring in 2007; and

WHEREAS, Ron Bloom was a member of the Friends Circle Club; he enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, and antiquing; and

WHEREAS, Ron Bloom had many special friends throughout his life, including Denny Arnett, Denny and Carol Royster, Phil and Darcy McBroom, Jim and Jorja Beert, John and Janet Hill, and Gale and Linda Adams; and

WHEREAS, Ron Bloom is survived by his wife, Georgia; his stepson, Mark Flemming; several cousins and their families; and Georgia's siblings and their spouses, Sheela Sawyer, Diana and Neil Carroll, John and Jania Sawyer, and Doyle Sawyer and their families; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ronald Lee "Ron" Bloom, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ron Bloom as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
